To begin with everyone lives in the bathhouse. There are 4 floors, each of them has several rooms for employees to sleep and hang out. There are about ten to fifteen people to a room, characters sleep on traditional futons. ↪ What about my character’s possessions? Everything but the clothes off their backs are taken from them upon arrival. After they sign their contract Yubaba replaces their clothes with uniforms, so those are taken as well. Normally Yubaba just gets rid of personal items, but Haku has convinced her that she can make a profit out of this. Your characters can buy back their items each payday. ↪ So what’s an average work week look like? The bathhouse is only open at night, with the weekends being the busiest times. The work load varies depending on how busy it is. You can expect to be up pretty much all night Fridays and Saturdays. Days off are Mondays with a half shift on Tuesday. ↪ Do they have to work in the bathhouse or can they made their own business? Yubaba welcomes anything that can make her more money. If your character has a good idea they just need to throw the idea at her and if she likes it she will fund the character for a place in town. She expects to be paid back though, with interest. It should also be noted that Yubaba is obligated to give anyone who asks a job. ↪ Can we leave the bathhouse area? Not imminently, once the character raised enough money they can buy a train ticket to leave the bathhouse. These tickets are expensive and there are only a few available at a time. The character can also win tickets from events. ↪ Can’t we just walk out? No. The bathhouse is surrounded by a giant ocean, the only way through it is the train. There is a magical barrier that keeps the dwellers of the bathhouse from escaping. This barrier only allows the train and it’s occupies to go through it. Anyone who wishes to walk out will be stopped, but the barrier does not keep people from walking in. ↪ So how does the train work? Each train stop is a simple concrete platform with a small hut and set of stairs. The character just passes through this and they appear in another setting of a Ghibli film. The train can only be found by a character wearing their comm-link (a ring), and tickets are sold in each platform at the train station hut. The train only goes one way so they will need to ride the train in a complete circle if they wanted to go back to the world they were just in. ↪ How much is a ticket? A ticket costs 5 gold and will take you to any (open) stop you want. Tickets require Mod Approval. ↪ So wait...where do we get the money then? Well, your character is working. Yubaba might be cheap but she does pay. Each character is paid weekly. A board and food tax is taken from it. Players are responsible for keeping track of how much their character's making. An example of what we would like to see in your journals is here ↪ What are the jobs and what do they pay? Please visit the job's list for more detailed information. As a note, more jobs will become available when the plot progresses. ↪ So what means of money does my character use here? 1 Gold = 5 Silver ↪ What happens if my character damages the surround town or the bathhouse? The bathhouse regenerates any damage, as does the town. That doesn’t mean that you get away with it. Punishment for damage can be anything from deduction in pay to being turned into an animal or a lump of coal. ↪ What if I disobey Yubaba? This woman has quite the temper. She will do anything to get her point across. If that means destroying your prized possession, turning someone you care for into a pig and eating them, or just beating the crap out of you then it will be done. ↪ What happens if my character dies? If a character dies in this world then they become a shadow person. As a shadow person they can't speak, only gesture. Their facial features are masked by darkness, and they can not leave the area in which they died in. They remain this way for one week, while their comm-link (ring) heals their body. On the seven day they are lured back to their bodies and from there their souls are reconnected to the physical world.↪ Help! My character can't speak Japanese! Well they do now! The communication system is an enchanted ring. When worn this ring will grants the wearer the ability to speak whatever language is needed, fluently. More information on the ring can be read below. ↪ Is NC-17 content permitted? When it comes to sex and violence, yes it is permitted. Some of these worlds are violent in nature, and violence is needed to survive. We just ask that anything with adult content is locked and warned. This game is also het, yaoi, and yuri friendly. There are limits though — if the focus of the game turn to shipping and smut the mods will have to intervene. ↪ What’s the activity requirement? Two proofs of either a 10 comment thread, a log, or a journal entry. ![]() |
![]() The world and gameplay;
This is the World of Gods and supernatural beings. For one reason or another your character was taken to this world by the gods and was dropped off here. Maybe you were just crossing a bridge, or simply going into a room, either way it was a place that they were not suppose to go and as a result they were spirited away to this world. ↪ Do we have to see every Ghibli film to understand what is going on? Nope! You will better understand this game though if you at least watch Spirited Away, but it’s not a requirement. There is a helpful link for Ghibli film resources available in the navigation post. ↪ What characters are applicable? Any book, video game, movie, (most) anime, comic, or published webcomics. Real people/celebrities can't be applied for. Exceptions are people portrayed fictional, such as historical films/movies, games, stories. Media only available in Japanese/with Japanese reference links is okay if and only if there's little to no expectation it will ever be released in English or there is a reasonably accurate translation available (subtitles, scanalations, etc). If you wish to play a god, as of right now only lesser gods (River, Forest, etc) are allowed. If you aren't sure about your character just ask and a mod will assist you. ↪ What about duplicate characters? Duplicates of the same character is allowed only if they’re from another canon sources. Ex. KH: Leon and FF: Squall. In the case of Final Fantasy and Dissidia the answer is no. What about AUs? Characters are allowed to have memories from previous games, and with that the cr that came with it. There will be a separate history required for the AU memories. These memories can also be one of the ten your character forgets.↪ Can we app original characters (OCs)? No, not at this time. ↪ My character is dead/dying in the canon, are they still applicable? Sure! This world is powered by the gods and magic, so it is easy for them to bring someone from the after life into this world. ↪ In the movie, humans were looked down upon. Is this mirrored here in the game? Yes it is. This is the spirit world, a place where humans were suppose to never go. For reasons unknown the gods have placed you here and you have to deal with the consequences. The spirits don’t take kindly to normal human beings. If you have supernatural powers they will see you as unique and will not treat you as harshly. ↪ So what kind of discrimination should I expect? Depends on the people you encounter. Some are okay with humans, but others see them as inferior. If you are a normal human then you can expect to have a harder time getting the things you need, and don’t be shocked if you get stiffed out of a tip.As far as violence is concerned, it's not an impossibility. Be careful. ↪ How do we communicate? Upon arrival Yubaba gives each character a special ring. Once this ring is wore it takes a bit of blood from the wearer, identifying it as theirs. With a small sting, only you can handle your ring so don't go losing it. The ring’s gem will light up when ever there is new activity on the network, all the wearer has to do is push the gemstone and the network appears in front of them as a sort of illusion. The ring is capable of voice and video post. If text is needed then a keyboard appears, also as an illusion. Yubaba also uses this ring as a tracking device. ↪ Does my character get to keep their powers? They do! All characters will keep their powers. Supernatural powers are a good thing in this world, so the more powerful your character is the more respect they will get. Normal humans will actually gain powers after staying in the bathhouse for a extend period of time. ↪ Awesome! What kind of powers do normal humans get? These powers will be basic magic skills. The longer they stay in the bathhouse the easier these powers will come to them. Character’s powers are up to the mun, we ask that they are limited to 2 elemental powers. On terms of how powerful they become, they aren’t very strong. On a scale of 1-10 (lowest to highest) it would probably be a 3. These powers are mainly here for them to be able to defend themselves if needed, but don’t expect to do any real damage. ↪ What about characters that have god-like powers? Yubaba wants to make sure she is most powerful being that lives in the bathhouse.The ring will restrict some powers. This means no world destroying powers. Other powers that will be resisted are as follows:-Wish granting: Disabled. ↪ So wait. My name is gone?! Yep! Yubaba’s magic centers around the fact that she can control someone when she takes their name. As soon as your character arrives in this place they will be taken to Yubaba, and they will be given a new name. What it becomes is up to the mun. If you need some ideas on how to come up with a new name, here are some suggestions: ↪ What if my character goes by an alias? The character will write down whatever name they identify themselves as. This could be their alias or their real name, it’s whatever holds more power over that character. If you don’t know which it would be then you can write both. ↪ Can my character write a fake name? No. Yubaba has a spell on the quill that the characters writes with, this forces them to write down their real name. Besides do you really want to anger the person who can turn you into a cow? ↪ What’s all this about memories? So my character loses them? Not all of them. With Yubaba’s spell comes some side effects, memory loss is one of them. After the first night the character will lose up to 10 memories. They can gain these back with events and if they buy back their possessions that remind them of something, like when Sen received her card and remembered her real name. ↪ What's going to happen when my character gets there? All contract signing and arrivals are handwaved. They can still ask questions about it, but the deed is done and they have a job to do. ↪ What memories then? Any event in their life can be taken away. The more significant the better! That doesn’t mean that the little things can be forgotten as well. They can forget their phone number, their skills, the fact that they are adopted- anything! We just ask that you stray away from things like ‘Souji forgot he ate a burger last week’. ![]() ![]() |
